BIG STRETCH

from £350.00

The more time you spend with animals, the more you begin to see the similarities between your subject and yourself! We had spent multiple weeks with a lion pride in the Masai mara, getting up two hours before sunrise and heading back to camp after the sun had set… long days. The prides routine became the our daily routine, sleeping when they slept and moving when they moved. On this particular day we had been watching the pride sleep for around 7 hours…. 7 hours! And instead of move on and see what else might be happening in the reserve, I wanted to capture more images of the young males in the group. As the sun began to dip the pride began to stir, it had been a few days since their last meal and so we assumed a night of hunting lay ahead. One of the first up was a young male, my movements seemed to mirrored his as I got up and readjusted into a comfortable shooting position. As I lay there cramped in the back of the truck, I captured the moment the young male had a big stretch before walking off. As I took the image I new exactly how good that must have felt and feel that my longing for the same feeling is mirrored in this image.
